• The monsoons bring out bugs, insects and termites that may eat into your furniture or upholstery. Always remember that regular sweeping, mopping and dusting will prevent the bugs from settling in.
• Start using insect repellant to stop bugs from entering your home – before sunset to get the maximum benefit.
• Call in a pest-control company (check with friends or relatives for a reliable one), before the season to give your home a disinfestations treatment (for crawling pests such as cockroaches, crickets, silverfish, ants and wasps). Go in for fumigation in the kitchen to prevent pests from attacking stored grains and other foods.
• Get a wire mesh installed in doors and windows. Ensure all drain outlets have meshes to prevent pests from entering.
• If there is sunshade outside any area of leakage, make sure that no water stagnates there. Get your mason to correct the slopes of the sunshade if they’re the reason for improper drainage. In case there’s water lest standing in your coolers, or anywhere else, you can put in a few drops of kerosene or Phenyl to disinfect it.
