1. Learn about the causes of ADHD; educate yourself better.
2. Teach the child to divide his study tasks into bits, so that he can concentrate for shorter time periods, reducing restlessness.
3. Manage your child’s bad behavior. Don’t lose control, or snap at him: he’s behaving this way because he has a problem.
4. Help the child cope with anger. Improve his self-esteem on a one-on-one basis.
5. Whenever ADHD is accompanied by learning problems such as poor school performance, a special teacher should be consulted; tell the class teacher or principal that your child has ADHD and may need their help.
6. When ADHD comes with neurological problems such as epilepsy, a neurologist must be consulted.
