Eggs have always had their share of bouquets as well as brickbats. New findings say you can relax; they may be good for you. Dietary cholesterol, found in animal foods such as eggs will increase HDL cholesterol as well as LDL cholesterol. The LDL particles that form are larger in size – and larger LDL particles can’t easily enter the walls of arteries to cause blockages. The March Berkeley Wellness Letter, from the University of California at Berkeley, says that though there’s 210mg of cholesterol present in the yolk of large egg, it isn’t enough to raise blood cholesterol. Eggs may even be good for your heart in the some ways, the newsletter reports, since eggs have unsaturated fat, vitamin B and other nutrients. Also, there’s proof that people feel fuller after eating eggs and that regular egg consumption may boost eye health.
