• Keep important documents such as insurance policies, birth certificates and passports in an easily-accessible waterproof box, or at least inside plastic sheet protectors.
• Get every family member to learn how to turn the electricity off in the event your house gets flooded.
• Rugs should preferably be rolled up during the rainy season to prevent them from getting dirty. Wrap them properly in polyethylene sheets to save them from both water damage and insect infestation.
• Sun upholstery and rugs to get rid of any moisture.
